NAME: Rodriguez-Octavio, Carmela Maria

DOB: 12/14/2006
SEX: F
PREEX-COND: Anxiety, Hypermobility, Scoliosis

Symptoms

Patient 04 reported bouts of fatigue followed by aching in the jaw, shoulders, elbows, wrists, fingers, knees, ankles, toes, which occasionally progressed to hyperextension in these areas. Sleep would often relieve the pain. After a car accident that killed her mother, 04 was found in the wreckage with extremely distended arms, legs, hands, fingers, feet, toes, as well as a dislocated jaw, “Spilling into the road, and filling the backseat” according to an EMT on the scene.

Since then, 04 has had sporadic episodes of elongation in all joints save her spine, neck, and hips. During episodes, 04 reports numbness in her extremities, and like she is “getting pulled intentionally like taffy.” 04 loses her ability to ambulate depending on the amount of 04’s bones do not grow, and her skin retains its elasticity, mostly shrinking back to normal post episode. Compression wear, braces, and regular light exercise manage symptoms outside of episodes.

  • she is scared, she is fed up, she is agoraphobic and afraid of driving in cars. father drove her here against her wishes, but since she's here, she will tell her story and ask for help. Informed her that she has been selected for an experimental medical device trial and does not need to pay for the treatment as long as she consents to the tests and reporting her experience. She seemed a bit more relaxed after that. She accepted, her father accepted,

  • We need to figure out if her ligaments and tendons grow, or just get stretched out during episodes so we can decide on a path forward. We haven't found a single hormone that triggers the elongation response, but 04 confirmed it more frequently happens when she is tired, hungry, or particularly warm. Eating and sleeping well is precluded by the undue stress her episodes and monitoring for them puts on her, so we hope to attempt a mixture of [CONTAIN AND CONTRACT] and [KNIT AND SUTURE] Nano protocols to address this.

  • You know.
